I owe it all to Dan Murphy....

Well sort of....(I had to add that otherwise I would not hear the end of it) I owe a lot of cross country flying help to Mountain Mike.

Anyway after years of making scale 1/4 and 1/3 scale gliders I decided that as I lived 30mins from Minden I should learn to glide.

I started flying at Minden on March the 9th 1997. it was a windy day with no lift at all. We shot a load of landing patterns in the SZD50-3 Owl.

I was hooked.

When I got back from that lesson something was ticking inside my head. Mainly the thought of "Damn why hadnt I done this ealier in my life instead of messing around with the toy version". I was determined to get the most out of my flying that I could. I went solo after 20 odd launches and soon graduated to the Grob 102. After Flying the Grob102 for a number of weekends I really wanted/needed to have my own plane. Rentals was getting exspensive! In May 1997 I spent $800 on tows and rentals, not a good situation. So cap in hand I asked my local bank man "please sir can I have some money to buy a plane?" To my suprise he said yes.

So I bought my "Mighty" Libelle.

Below will be some links that a student pilot should find useful, I did.
